An Operating System is the basic software that manages a computer system. It handles the way the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices such as a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between the installed applications, along with the prioritization of applications when multiple ones run concurrently. Any program which is installed on a desktop or a laptop operates by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS can be achieved via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the Operating System is what runs a web hosting server along with all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer you as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs available and we provide all three of them rather than only 1 since we realize that you might want to install some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are different software packages you could install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you wish to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you want a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a wider choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different apps can have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe web hosting service. Based on your selection, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software that you'd like to run. We can also upgrade the OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
