SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is employed to confirm whether an email message is sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the counterfeiting of emails made with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mails from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When an email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests whether it comes from an authorized server. When it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet when it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you are distributing spam messages. This approach is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a couple of clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be certified to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution offers you the top degree of security, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain name are managed somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is provided with all our semi-dedicated hosting service, will provide you with a really easy-to-use interface to enable the SPF security service for each domain that you host in your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses. In case the email messages are handled on our end and not by some other supplier, you can boost the security level even more and activate an option for your outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domains feature our MX records. This option will provide you with better control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anybody faking your emails with the purpose of spamming or scamming people. It's not applicable when just your web site is on our outstanding cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by a different provider. If you are not sure what features to select, our tech support crew will help you 24/7.
